India/Israel
As the name ‘Noisygenes’ refers, main preoccupation of the avant-garde composer and multimedia artist Alen Ilijić, is not the noise that is arbitrarily taken for the analysis, but the noise that is inherited trait and which cannot be adjusted. ‘Noisygenes’ is project conceived of abstract-expressionist paintings and symbolic prints, as a way to examine the concept of noise. Inseparable part of the exhibition was homonymous performance - improvisation for electric guitar, with which the exhibition was officially opened.

Symphonie Liturgique
Using various techniques of artistic expression (oil, watercolor, ball pen, felt pen...), Ilijić’s paintings provides a process of formation of unwanted sounds while displaying  the great complexity of  noise. ‘Noisygenes’ paintings are not a product of imagination, but a visual reflection of a personal feelings caused by true events. Ilijić’s abstract-expressionist paintings are full of symbolism, associated with a general and personal interpretation. In other words, his symbolic dualism is intensely personal but also understandable to everyone.
Gavrilo's way
Ilijić gesture’s diapason range from thin but nervous lines, over the aggressive colors that brutally attack the senses, to the vibrant excitement and ecstasy. Although the paintings are characterized by different expressive qualities, similarity exists in the starkness of one wide, full color line in every painting. The color line is the integrating moment that alludes to the sequence of actual events that have influenced the artist.  In terms of form, his passionate aesthetics has an echo of Basquiat’s voice, which is present in Ilijić’s use of words. For example, there are words ‘Israel’ and ‘India’ as important constructive elements. It is clearly that artist wanted to emphasize the ancient civilizations with a turbulent past, but also symbolically refers to the artist origin or genes. In Ilijić’s paintings color has a major role in artistic expression. Beside this, canvases contain an unpainted surface which artist skillfully use as essential part of composition.

Giving the empty, unpainted space to the importance, Ilijić expresses a revolt against academic art and outdated rules
.
In a homonymous performance Alen showed an explosion of noise, with a purpose of pushing the sound boundaries. Using the guitar in untypical way, as a ready-made object, with a various extended techniques, Ilijić provided a controlled chaos in aleatory form. Symbolically, during the performance, Alen put the amplifier on the wall in a meaning of breaking it. Noisygenes performance brought a great energy with a new method of using the noise.
‘Noisygenes’ is the second solo exhibition by Alen Ilijić, held on May 16, 2014 @ Issu PerpetuumMobile Gallery in Belgrade, Serbia. It was curated and video recorded by Milica Ilijić. Project ‘Noisygenes’ was supported by Serbian   Ministry of Culture and Information.
